If you are someone in control of a premises you have a legal duty to manage asbestos, and to protect anyone using or working in the premises from the risks to health that exposure to asbestos causes. An asbestos survey and management plan are essential.

Your Responsibilities:

Finding out and recording where asbestos might be – you’ll need to identify potential sources and grade the condition of them, draw up site plans of the building and keep a list of products containing asbestos – and most importantly – keep a record of your findings.

Deciding what is most important – which materials need action as a priority? You are responsible for assessing the risks, and managing and controlling them.

Deciding what action to take and how to plan any work. How do you deal with each type of asbestos?

Recording on-going monitoring and maintenance. Keeping a log book.
